Literacy Voices Roundup is on hiatus this week in honor of BWB's recent award.  NCFL's Emily Kirkpatrick presented the award on Wednesday night in Washington, DC. 

Better World Books received a 2008 Literacy Leadership Award from the National Coalition for Literacy! They were honored for their outstanding achievements and contributions to literacy thus far:

• collecting more than 13 million books
• raising more than $4.6 million for literacy at the local, regional and national levels
• saving more than 7,000 books from landfills
 

It was an honor to present the award to BWB and celebrate the accomplishments of other literacy advocates, including Honorable Ruben Hinojosa (TX), National Council of La Raza, and Dr. John Comings, National Center of Study of Adult Learning and Literacy, Harvard University

In receiving the award, David Murphy represented the 200+ Better World Books employees working to build a better world through literacy and caring for the environment. Congratulations!
