NCFL is excited to announce that we are the national nonprofit partner selected for the Fast Break to Reading program sponsored by Pitney Bowes and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA)! The initiative encourages young students to read throughout the summer and track their minutes at http://www.wnba.com/fbtr/. The goal is for youth to collectively reach one million minutes of reading time --- and we’re more than halfway there!
Ten WNBA teams are participating in the Fast Break to Reading program. Each team tipped-off a local program in June in collaboration with a local literacy organization. The teams also have been working with Pitney Bowes to hold Reading Timeouts to read to area youth and speak about the importance of reading.
“When we launched this initiative earlier this season, we thought it would be a great opportunity for our young fans to participate in a fun program where they can also learn about the importance of education and reading,” said WNBA President Donna Orender. “We are thrilled to see that we are halfway to the one million minutes goal and applaud everyone for their efforts.”
